Slow with Jo

Thank you for giving yourself the gift of rest.

Hi lovely you,

Before you begin reading this page, I invite you to take a moment to slow down and check in with yourself… Without changing anything about how you are feeling… How does your posture feel? Do you notice some tension in the body? Some other sensations maybe? How is your breathing? Spend a few moments focusing on your breath and observe if anything changes. Feel free to let out a sigh if you wish; this can help regulate your nervous system!

----

I'm so happy you have decided to join me for a online restorative evening of deep rest. I'm very much looking forward to seeing you there!

On this confirmation page, you will find some practical information & tips, and the link to the online session.

Practical information and tips

  • Find a quiet place where you can remain undisturbed for the entire duration of our time together, and where you can comfortably lie down. You can use your yoga mat, bed, couch, a rug, folded blankets - as long as your're comfortable. You can begin this moment for yourself by intentionally lighting a candle or pouring yourself a cup of tea.

  • We begin our time together with mindfulness and/or somatic movement to connect with our bodies and the present moment. These practices can be done either while seated or lying down, so please have a comfortable chair or cushion nearby to sit on.

  • During our Yoga Nidra meditation, feel free to make yourself as comfortable as possible by using pillows under your head and knees, as well as blankets to keep warm. If you prefer, you can also use an eye cover.

  • Please ensure you wear your most comfortable outfit, such as your pajamas.

  • You might prefer to prepare for bed before our session, allowing you to easily transition into deep sleep right after (or even during 😉) the session.

Posture

The fundamentals are quite simple. Just lie down comfortably on your back. Your body will tell you what 'comfortable' means to you at that particular moment. While it is also acceptable to sit in a comfortable chair, the preferred position is to lie down. This position signals to your body that it is safe to relax and release tension. If you would like to learn more about the traditional posture used in yoga nidra, as well as alternative postures (for instance, if you experience discomfort lying on your back or if you are pregnant), please refer to this page for additional information.

Link to online session

This link will take you to our online session.

If you experience any problems while using your camera/mic in the Whereby program, check out this link.

Additionally, you will receive a recording of our session together, allowing you to practice as often as you wish.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

As we approach the end of this page, let’s take a moment again to reflect. How is your posture at this moment? Has it shifted in any way? How is your breathing? There is no need to change or correct anything; simply observe. Allow yourself to hold space for whatever feelings or sensations arise.

Much love and we'll see each other soon!

Jolanda
